The historic market town of Kington and the ancient neighbouring region of Mortimer Country lie close to the border with Wales and date back over 1000 years. Situated beside Offa’s Dyke, an old earthwork boundary between England and Wales and Hergest Ridge, along the Marcher Kings’ route, they encompass the most beautiful countryside and outstanding views.
Get Active
A ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town Kington is renowned for its Walking Festival in the autumn, with a choice of over 40 walks with talks and entertainment.
The Offa's Dyke Path National Trail, The Herefordshire Trail, Mortimer Trail and the Wyche Way all pass through the town. Kington attracts a large following of muddy boots all year round ready to explore its hills and panoramic views. Overlooking the town and the tranquil Brecon Beacons is Kington Golf Club, the highest 18 hole course
in England.

The summer and winter annual food and drink festivals in June and December host over 90 stalls, offering visitors a taste of the borders.
