The wind industry provides many opportunities for ELP students.
Wind Generation Specialist
This position would include the installation and maintenance of wind farms. Wind farms include the wind generators themselves, underground and overhead powerlines, ber optic circuits, and substations.
Wind farms require underground and overhead power line construction, as well as substation and communications circuit installations. Your Electrical Lineworker Program education is very applicable to the wind industry, as well as many other positions as outlined in this chapter.
Communications Lineworker
This position would include the construction and maintenance of telephone, cable, and cellular networks in both overhead and underground installations.
Manufacturer Representative
There are hundreds of manufacturers that provide tools and equipment to the utility and construction industry. Connectors, tools, electrical equipment, line trucks, bucket trucks, rubber goods are just a few categories and these companies are always seeking people with basic trade knowledge for development and/or sales positions.
Power Plant Technician
This position would include the maintenance and operation activities of power plants, such as coal, hydro, nuclear, solar, etc.
