dove into the string bag, and she pulled out a plain
white envelope. She pushed it towards me, her fingers
hesitating for a moment before releasing it.
The envelope was thick, and I could tell it
contained a substantial amount of cash. My eyes met
hers, and I raised an eyebrow.
“I will pay you one thousand dollars for one hour
of your time,” she said, her voice firm, but her eyes
pleading. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as she
waited for my response.
I was surprised at her brashness. But not by her
action. I’d heard of this before. A guy I know once
offered the top real estate developer in his city $10,000,
his entire savings and then some, if he could shadow
him for one day. And yes, you guessed it. At the end of
the day he offered him a job and told him to keep his
money saying that he wanted people with that kind of
hunger and initiative on his team. This story has
always stuck with me as a testament to the power of
boldness and determination.
Just like my friend, Julia was willing to take a risk
and put herself out there to get what she wanted. And
