Divine Spark Rising
“One more thing. The Curator isn’t just a
person. It’s a governance layer for the network—an
orchestration. If Sofia’s cadence survived, the
Curator wears her rhythm. Don’t argue with it. It’s
better at calm than you are.”
Carolina’s face drained. “Can you see her?”
“Sometimes,” Jinji said. “In reflections. She
learned to teach the silence to listen back.”
Henry looked at the window. Rain traced down
the glass and made letters no one wrote: O, then C,
then O again. The city stirring its alphabet.
“Jinji,” he said. “Why us?”
“Because you’re stubborn,” she said, voice
winking, then returning. “Because you owe me
coffee. Because you’re the closest thing to a key I
left in the world.”
The radio made a sound like a smile.
“And because you still believe people are worth
the noise they make.”
The apartment lights stuttered. The radio’s
display blinked nonsense. Jinji’s voice flattened,
pitched down into a floor where voices aren’t
allowed.
“They turned silence into a signal,” she said. “So
turn choice into one too.”
