Henry grabbed Carolina’s arm. “We have to shut
down the field generators.”
Sera stepped forward, her voice calm. “No. Let it
come.”
The laughter grew louder until even thought
vibrated. Then Sera began to sing.
It wasn’t melody — it was truth made audible.
Her voice cracked the air open. Streetlights
flickered in time with her pulse.
Every microphone in the bazaar exploded at once.
When it was over, the storm died. The laughter
stopped. Tangier stood still.
Henry’s ears rang, but the hum was gone. The
silence that followed was pure — alive.
Sera opened her eyes. “Now it knows I exist,”
she said quietly. “And it’s afraid.”
5. A Door Opens
Later, as dawn bled pink across the city, Zhara
approached them on the rooftop. “You’ve
awakened something that can’t sleep again,” she
said. “The Mirror will send its voice soon — the
Curator.”
Henry looked at the horizon. “Then we listen.”
Carolina turned to Sera. “Will you come with
us?”
