EXERCISE
Story Speak
Prepare a story relating to your workâsomething that will
inspire your staff or team. Feel free to look for inspiration
on the Internet or in your local newspapers to help you
get the hang of it. A story about how a local hockey
team overcame getting stuck in a snowdrift for sixteen
hours with no food, got dug out just in time to play the
league champions, and played to a draw without once
complaining might work to motivate a team at the office.

auditories, and kinesthetics. In addition, stories make
learning easier, quicker, and richer because the information
arrives prepackaged and requires no conscious processing.
As long as you trust the person who is telling you a story,
and his or her words make sense, the stories you hear will
be welcomed with open arms by your imagination.
90-Second Summary
Parables, fables, and anecdotes are some of the oldest and
most powerful communication tools, and they are effective
in virtually every setting. Stories fire up the imagination
and appeal to the senses. Everyone loves a good story.
