It was a small act of defiance. A tiny assertion of
control in the midst of chaos.
She looked around the room again. The faces of
her colleagues. The pressure in the air.
They were all in the same boat. Struggling.
Stressed. Trying to stay afloat in a sea of uncertainty.
But she didn't have to drown.
She made a decision. Right there, in that pressure-
cooker meeting room. She was going to learn to sail.
She was going to identify her triggers. Understand
their power. And find ways to defuse them.
It wouldn't be easy. It would take work. It would
take practice.
But it was essential.
Her sanity, her health, her happiness depended on
it.
The meeting droned on. Mark continued his
tirade. But something had shifted within Billie.
She was no longer just a victim of her
circumstances. She was a warrior. A strategist. A
survivor.
She was taking back her life, one trigger point at a
