NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
She felt… relieved.
A weight had lifted off her shoulders. A small
victory, but a significant one.
She had said "no." And she had survived.
She started to practice.
A friend invited her to a late-night networking
event. "No, thank you," she said, politely but firmly.
A colleague asked her to take on an extra project.
"I'm at capacity right now," she replied, without
apology.
Her sister, Brenda, called, wanting to vent about
her latest drama. "I only have a few minutes to talk,"
Billie said, setting a clear boundary.
It wasn't easy. People pushed back. They tried to
guilt-trip her. They questioned her motives.
But Billie stood her ground. She remembered why
she was doing this. She was reclaiming her life. She
was saying "yes" to herself.
She discovered that saying "no" wasn't about being
negative. It was about being positive.
It was about making conscious choices about how
she wanted to spend her time and energy.
It was about prioritizing her well-being.
