The term popped into her head. She'd read about
it somewhere. The idea of injecting small doses of
adventure into everyday life. Not skydiving or
climbing Mount Everest, but something that pushed
her boundaries, even just a little.
She hesitated. The Guilt Trip started its familiar
whisper campaign. You have work to do. You should
be catching up on chores. You don't have time for this.
But Billie was getting better at recognizing the
Guilt Trip. She knew its tricks. She knew its lies.
She thought about the past few weeks. How much
better she'd been feeling. How much more alive she
was since she started saying "yes" to the things she
enjoyed.
An escape room. It was only a couple of hours. It
was a chance to have fun, to laugh, to challenge
herself.
She typed a response.
"I'm in!"
The word felt… liberating.
