NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
• Mark, her boss. His constant demands, his

acknowledge her accomplishments.
• A colleague who always complained about
everything, spreading negativity like a virus.
• A friend who constantly borrowed money and
never paid it back.
• A family member who always criticized her
choices, making her feel inadequate.
Billie started to identify them. She made a list. Her
own personal rogues' gallery of Energy Vampires.
And she started to take action.
With Mark, she set clear boundaries about her
work hours and her workload. She started
documenting her accomplishments, so he couldn't
dismiss them.
With the complaining colleague, she limited her
interactions and politely changed the subject
whenever the negativity started flowing.
With the friend who borrowed money, she said
"no" firmly and consistently.
With the critical family member, she limited her
contact and stopped seeking their approval.
