DEEP REST
The Director smashed his fist on the console.
"He's a madman! A delusional, traumatized patient!
How can they believe him?"
"His transformation, Director," the operative
ventured cautiously. "From a severely depressed
individual to… this. It's compelling. And Dr. Hayes’s
coded message… it’s being analyzed by independent
neuroscientists. They can't explain it. It lends
credibility to O'Connell's claims."
The Director closed his eyes, taking a slow,
deliberate breath. Rage was unproductive. He needed
control.
"Containment," he said, his voice dangerously
quiet. "Initiate full-spectrum damage control.
Discredit Thorne. Discredit O'Connell. Flood the
media with counter-narratives. Call in our political
assets. Frame this as a desperate attempt by a mentally
unstable individual to attack the pharmaceutical
industry."
"And Dr. Hayes, Director?"
The Director’s eyes snapped open, cold and hard.
"Dr. Hayes is no longer an asset. She is a liability. A
dangerous, uncontrollable variable. Move her.
Immediately. To a location where no one, not even
Thorne, will ever find her. And prepare her for…
permanent termination."
