The Breach
Evelyn. The Final Procedure. The Edge of Oblivion.
The needle plunged into Evelyn’s neck. A cold,
burning sensation spread through her veins, a
paralyzing agent designed to shut down her nervous
system, one synapse at a time. Her vision blurred, the
faces of the lab coats, the sly sneer of The Director,
dissolving into hazy distortions.
"Final procedure initiated," Dr. Volkov announced.
"Neurological shutdown commencing. Estimated time
to full cessation: ninety seconds."
Evelyn felt her body growing heavy, her breathing
shallowing. Her heart, once a frantic drumbeat, now
slowed, a distant, muffled thud. Her mind, despite the
chemical assault, clung to a single thought: Liam.
