"Cassandra," Vega said into his comms. "We're at
the first internal checkpoint. Need a bypass. Now."
Cassandra finally breached the internal network.
She saw the schematic of the security grid, the laser
patterns, the motion sensor frequencies.
"Got it," she said. "Sending override sequence.
Stand by."
In the dark ventilation shaft, the red laser beams
stuttered, then vanished. The hum of the motion
sensors died.
"Clear," Vega said, a hint of surprise in his voice.
"Nice work, Thorne."
They dropped out of the ventilation shaft into a
dimly lit corridor. Steel walls. Heavy, reinforced
doors. The unmistakable aura of a high-security
facility.
"We're in," Liam said, his eyes darting around.
Suddenly, a loud CLANG! from down the corridor.
A heavy door sliding open.
Two armed guards emerged, their weapons raised.
They had heard something.
"Intruders!" one of them bellowed, his voice
echoing in the confined space.
Vega didn't hesitate. He disarmed the first guard,
knocking him unconscious with a single, precise
