"Cassandra!" Liam yelled into his comms. "We're
at Evelyn's location! Need a bypass for the door! And
a diversion!"
Although Cassandra had managed to hack into the
central security system, the firewalls were immense,
constantly shifting.
"Working on it!" she yelled back. "This place is a
fortress! They've got redundant systems, optical
scanners, biometric locks… Give me a minute!"
She saw the schematic of the door Liam and Vega
were facing. It was a multi-layered security system.
She needed to find a backdoor, a vulnerability.
Then, she saw it. A single, outdated subroutine, a
remnant from an older security protocol. A weakness.
"Got it!" Cassandra yelled into her comms.
"Sending a pulse! It'll cause a temporary system
overload! You've got ten seconds! Go, go, go!"
Evelyn. The Resuscitation. The Director's Fury.
Dr. Volkov and her team worked frantically,
applying defibrillator paddles, injecting stimulants.
Evelyn’s body jolted, but her heart remained
stubbornly still. Her brain, however, continued its
oscillation.
"It's not working!" Dr. Volkov cried, beads of
sweat on her brow. "Her body won't respond! But her
