Chapter 24
Ben’s Story
Ben attended one of my workshops. He surprised
himself when, eight months later, he said farewell to his
career as a financial analyst, raised $300,000 through
grants and sponsorships, and opened a high-class bakery
staffed, more or less exclusively, by people in their early
twenties who’d served time in prison.
A couple of years later, Ben approached me with a
request to briefly address one of my workshops. He
showed up with an air of sharpness and vigor, his hair
cropped close. He looked markedly different from the
memory I hold of him—a rotund figure in a loose blue
jumper with graying hair.
"Ben?"
"Not bad for a forty-four-year-old ex-tycoon!" he said,
beaming.
