Terry Fox's purpose was to raise cancer awareness
and funds. His plan involved running across Canada,
completing 3,339 miles despite losing a leg.
Blake Mycoskie's purpose was to provide shoes for
needy children. His plan involved founding TOMS, a
one-for-one shoe company that donates shoes with each
purchase.
Chance meetings opened doors to new opportunities,
and synchronistic events aligned their plans with their
purpose.
Spontaneity is not just a desirable trait; it's a
fundamental aspect of the human experience. In a world
where we're constantly striving for control and
perfection, it's counterintuitive to suggest that the key to
success lies in embracing spontaneity. Yet, the limits of
effort and control are clear. When we overemphasize
planning and striving, we can miss out on the serendipity
and creativity that arises from embracing uncertainty and
spontaneity.
When we're spontaneous, we're more open,
adaptable, and receptive to new experiences and
opportunities. We come alive.
