Marcus to carry Spanx. Bloomingdale's, Saks, and
Bergdorf Goodman followed.
Forbes Magazine named Sara Blakely the youngest
self-made female billionaire in the world and one of Time
Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in March 2012.
"Every person in their life has had a million-dollar
idea," Sara says. "The biggest difference between a
successful idea and a failure is whether or not you get out
and take action.”
Facing a massive order from Neiman Marcus
without ready inventory or production, she boldly said,
"YES!" and then figured out how to make it happen.
When Oprah included Spanx in her "favorite things"
of 2000 and wanted to film Sara's office, Sara had no
office to showcase. Unfazed, she again said, "YES!" and
promptly established an office, staffing it with a team.
Since its inception in 2006, the Sara Blakely
Foundation has donated millions to charities around the
world, focusing on those that empower underserved
women and girls.
