The Truth About Lying
Logan shook his head. “No. Workarounds.”
Henry smiled.
“Of course.”
“My daughter had a case. Full transparency. Everyone told the truth.”
Henry waited.
“We didn’t solve it,” Logan said. “We just made it impossible to pretend we had.”
Henry nodded once and kept walking. The observation deck was quiet.
The Curator was already there. Waiting.
“Henry.”
Something about it was different. Less anchored. “My time here is ending,” the Curator said. “You’re leaving.”
“Yes.”
“For another world?”
“A species approaching its threshold.”
Henry looked out over the city.
“And us?”
“You no longer require a Curator.”
It should have felt like relief.
It didn’t.
“What if we get it wrong?” Henry asked.
