The Surprising Truth About Lying
Vincent intervened, his voice quiet but
authoritative. "It's not just the social breakdown,
Henry. It's the physical one. The functional world is
following the emotional world into the grave."
He pointed to a small, encrypted tablet he kept
separate from Lina's main screens. "I got this five hours
ago. It's an anonymous drop, routed through the old
Cerulean servers. You know the signature."
Henry looked at the message, instantly recognizing
the encryption protocol he himself had built: it was
from the same corporate circle he had abandoned. It
was almost certainly from Dr. Anya Sharma, the
honest-eyed sacrifice he had sent out to deliver the last
major corporate lie.
The message was one line:
Architect. You succeeded. The foundation is dust.
Functional stability is calculated at 0.00%. The system
will achieve total entropic self-cancellation within 72
hours. Find a new foundation, or there will be nothing
left to save.
The message was stark, cold, and utterly honest, a
chilling statement of fact, delivered by a messenger
who had seen the whole process of decay from the
inside.
