Watsu
WHAT IS IT?
Watsu = WaterShiatsu is a combination of
hydrotherapeutic bodywork and Shiatsu
techniques in water at around 35°C.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The therapist supports and moves the guest
rhythmically through chest-deep water,
incorporating rocking and rotating Shiatsu
techniques, targeted joint mobilisation, gentle
rotations, and stretches. The movements are
synchronised with breathing and meridian
points. The focus is on releasing tension,
relaxing, and achieving emotional and mental
grounding. After the treatment, there is a calm
phase to ease out of the water. Each session
lasts approximately 75 minutes.
WHY IS IT GOOD FOR ME?
Warm saltwater in combination with Shiatsu
promotes deep relaxation. Through passive
stretching and mobilisation, the musculo-
skeletal system relaxes, and pain may subside.
In a quiet, trusting environment, a sense of
‘weightlessness’ and soothing inner stillness
often arises.
A Watsu session is part of the programmes
‘Stress Control’, ‘Longevity/Healthy Aging’
and ‘Leaders’ Excellence’.
