Hawks send invading Hillcats packing, 6-2

Monday the Lady Hillcats traveled to Hopkinton where the
Lady Hawks proved victorious by a score of 6-2.
Hillsborough got off to a strong start, scoring first, fourteen
minutes into the game when Izabella Warren found the net
off a pass from Halie Hurd and then again two minutes later
on a penalty kick (for a handball). While the Hillcats played
a strong first half, cohesively as a unit they shifted and
supported each other the Hawks started to fight back. In the
eighteenth and twenty-fourth minutes, senior forward Grace
Clark scored a pair of goals, one of which was a fabulous
individual run by four Hillsborough defenders to slot it past
the keeper.
The Hillcats lost there momentum in the second half
becoming reactive rather than creative and the Hawk offense
took control. Coming back from a thigh injury, sophomore
midfielder Caitlin Clark blasted a shot from outside the box.
Then in the 64th and 73rd minute senior midfielder Ellie
Morrall slotted two more home. Right before she subbed
off in the seeventy-fourth minute, it was Grace Clark again
to finish her second hat trick of the season.
Hawks Jess Carney and Sage Hubicki contributed assists,
Meg Ellsworth anchored the midfield and in the right back
position Loren Charron had a strong game. Emily Fleegle
had two saves in the goal to record the win.
Hillcat Highlights included Izabella Warren with two
12 goals, Halie Hurd one assist, Zoe Kemp and Kimmie
Nadeau playing well in the midfield, and Abbie Johnson
was strong in offense. Playing a busy game as goalie Gracie
Atkins had nine saves.
