        31st Celebration of Life Monterey Fashion Show & Luncheon



                                         Winning the Race Against Cancer

         Celebration of Life Monterey                                                                                                                                                          Karina Rusk, Salinas Valley Health, emceed the event
         County Fashion Show and
         Luncheon Committee                                                                                                                                                                 and presented beloved photographer, Richard Green with
                                                                                                                                                                                            the Shirley Lavorato Award. The award dedicates the day
                                                                                                                                                                                            to an individual in our community who inspires others
                                                                                                                                                                                            and exemplifies the true meaning of “making a difference.”
                                                                                                                                                                                            Richard’s recognition for the award acknowledges his work in
                                                                                                                                                                                            the community and leading with a passion for helping others
                                                                                                                                                                                            through his photography, his volunteerism to the American
                                                                                                                                                                                            Cancer Society, and his steadfast dedication to his wife, a
                                                                                                                                                                                            cancer survivor.
                                                                                                                                                                                               Over 100 local businesses contributed gift baskets and raffle
                                                                                                                                                                                            items for the silent and live auctions, a true testament to the
                                                                                                                                                                                            fact that cancer affects many of us in very real ways.

            he Kentucky Derby phrase “Run for the Roses” took
            on a whole new meaning with local cancer survivors
        T taking to the stage for the 31st Celebration of Life
        Monterey Fashion Show & Luncheon. Celebrating life and
        a shared goal of finding a cure for cancer, the Monterey
        County community turned out in Kentucky Derby-inspired
        fashions, fascinators, and hats to raise awareness and
        money for continued cancer research.
           With 29 local celebrity models wearing attire from
        eight local clothiers, they inspired the sold-out audience
        with their jaunty spirit, joie de vivre, and zest for life no
        matter where they are in their journey with cancer. Greet
