My name is Lauren Miller. I am 14 years old and a senior member
of San Benancio 4-H, where I raise show pigs and hold an executive
officer position as Recording Secretary. I have been in 4-H for 4
years and have completely fallen in love with it.
For those who aren’t familiar, 4-H is a nonprofit youth
development organization that helps members become well-
spoken and well-rounded through participation in hands-
on activities. These hands-on activities include projects,
community club meetings, community service, and volunteer
events. Projects can be things like baking, arts and crafts, “ “
hiking, woodwork, and fishing. There are also projects where
members can raise and sell market animals. These projects
include, but are not limited to, swine (pigs), dairy cows, sheep,
goats, poultry (chickens), and rabbits. ” ”
For those who enjoy leadership and want to become more of involvement and experience required. Some that I would

My 4-H story started as a nervous 11-year-old who

something that I wanted to be part of.

a resume for college application, and also made great
 friends and lasting memories.
With all that said, if you are hesitant to join 4-H I
would urge you to reach out to the leader of your local club
and ask if you and your family could sit in on a meeting to
 get a feel for things.
Finally, I would like to say that 4-H has brought me
so much joy. Getting to watch the seeds of leadership we
plant as officers grow as new members bloom and our club
