Little Bird

As I sit at my corner window warmed by a swathe of streaming sunlight, Monterey, California 93940 Salinas, California 93901 Marina, California 93933

I look out and spot a little bird perched precariously on the edge of a leaf in a behemoth Oak. 831.854.7965 fax 831.424.4994 fax 831.384.6802 fax
He is so small, nibbling on a acorn.
Suddenly he is attacked by a regal gallant but nefarious squirrel FOLLOW
Who focuses his jealous eyes on that same acorn. US ON Accepting New Patients
Little Bird flies to another leaf and watches with quiet scrutiny.
The squirrel snatches the acorn and runs away.
I ask myself “Does Little Bird feel fear, anger, envy, hatred?”
Would it not be better if we humans could ameliorate aching hearts,
and just be like Little Bird?

Julie Garvin lives off Rim Rock in San Benancio and
