The Effect of Using Cloud Computing to Enhance the
Learning Process: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract

Cloud computing technology is a new paradigm which provides Information
Technology (IT) resources via the Internet. Nowadays cloud computing is a recent field
for researchers. There is no doubt that the Educational sectors can reap huge benefits
from cloud computing such as cost savings, strategic edge, manageability, reliability,
scalability, access to automatic updates and sharing materials. However, there are
numerous issues in cloud computing like pricing, availability of service, power
consumption, energy management, resource provisioning, security, and others. This
paper focused on cloud computing abilities to enhance the educational process,
presenting the challenges and the opportunities that may face the learner during using
this new technology, in the context of the national vision 2030 which encourage to
utilize the technology in the learning process as well as to support the industrial
partnership, the current study proposed a model to adopt using cloud computing in
the educational process effectively. The results indicated the importance of adding a
new system quality dimension ‘support management and the industrial partnership’
to enhance the usefulness of cloud computing.
