Abstract:
Statements of This study aims to develop the skills of programming skills related to writing
skills ( constants and variables, sentences of conditional expressions, conditional definition
sentences, repetitive sentences, sentences of navigation, comprehension errors) and
computational thinking skills (abstraction and problem solving, parallelism and symmetry,
Logical thinking, synchronization, algorithmbased algorithms for flow control, user
interactivity, and explanation and representation of data)for 8th grade students by creating
SCRATCH projects. The sample of the study included (30) students in 8th grade in a public
school, here they just start studding the computer subject. The programming skills of each
student were measured by rubric to observe the student's performance during the study, as well
as a rubric to evaluate the students' final products. Their computational thinking skills were
measured by Dr.Scratch, which used to analyze Scratch projects a scale of 21, and dividing the
project's level into three levels ("Basic", "Developing", "Proficiency"). The results showed a
high level in the development of programming skills during Scratch training. In terms of
computational thinking skills, the results showed " Basic " level for the student's projects with
recommendations for their development.
