Musica Viva
During Week 5, Primary students were invited into the colourful world of Oboist Celia Craig, who joined forces with guitarist Caspar Hawksley in the Harvest Performing Arts Centre. The students created original, improvised music inspired by colour and mood, and learned about Chromesthesia (where sound evokes an involuntary experience of colour).
Thanks to Musica Viva for this extraordinary and inspiring performance.
(OUR SAAY) Aboriginal Youth
Public Speaking Competition
It is not just sporting or outdoor activities that are offered at Harvest Christian College. Also offered are a range of other external opportunities for the students, including access to a number of state-based competitions.
One example is the Aboriginal Youth Public Speaking Competition, in which Maddison Martin recently competed.
The ‘Our South Australian Aboriginal Youth (OUR SAAY)’ Public Speaking Competition encourages Aboriginal children and young people to raise their voices on important topics and matters in Aboriginal affairs.
Finalists had questions shaped around the 10 key findings in the Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People’s Youth Voices Report and the National NAIDOC theme “For Our Elders”.
Well done Maddie for a fabulous effort!
