the feet of Jesus, learning of him, taking his
word as the authentic history of the world, his
truth as the interpreter of nature, will insure
eternal life. Accepting the writings of men,
human speculations regarding the history of
the world, its creation, its age, placing a
human interpretation upon the works of
nature, and seeking to find out by experiment
and speculation what must be known by
faith,-this brings death; for it leads away from
Christ, the center of the universe, the source of
all wisdom-the great drawing power of
creation. The first is the system of God, of
which faith is the motive power; the second is
the Greek system, which exalts human
