spiritual experience or religiosity and what
you call church life. Your religious
experience is not to just have an externally
applied experience. God is continually trying
to lead you through a process that moves
from the external rule of law to the internal
rule of love. He is continually trying to get
His law move in your experience from an
external code of ethics that you apply to mere
behavioral patterns, inscribed in your hearts.
He says, I will write My law on your heart and
put it in your mind – this is the essence of the
new covenant. God wants to take this law of
love and deeply etch it in the soft inner fiber
of your heart, your character-on every nerve,
every fiber, e very faculty. He wants you to
experience the internal combustion of a
spiritual power that causes you to live as He
lived, by an internal motivation towards love.
It is not to merely go through the motions of
religiosity, but to genuinely undergo a
metamorphosis, a change, a radical, deep
