               at  the  feet  of  Protestant  teachers.  Error

               the speedy overthrow of the false system was


               prevented                   by         a        counter               educational


               movement. The  organization of  the  order of


               Jesuits, in reality a papacy of the papacy, sent


               into  the  world  a  body  of  active  workers,


               shrewd,  well  educated,  and  armed  with


               a  double-faced  conscience,  which  enabled


               them to penetrate anywhere and assume any


               role.  One  of  their  most  efficient  methods  of


               procedure was in the schools. They founded


               new  schools  in  the  very  shadow  of  the


               Protestant  institutions,  and  drew  from  their
