THE STORY OF DANIEL THE PROPHET

known to the Babylonians throughout the
period of captivity. Daniel, in the presence of
the king, had, more than once, received divine
enlightenment. Ezekiel was sending messages
broadcast from the Lord, and Jeremiah had
received word from God with the command to
make it known to all the nations round about.
There was no hiding the fact that the God of
the Jews had prophets among his people. It
was in this way that not only the Jews, but
Moab, Edom, Tyre and Sidon, Ammon, Egypt,
Arabia, and even Media and Persia knew that
the fall of Babylon was decreed. Many of these
nations, and the Persians among the number,
knew just what kingdom would be used to
