THE STORY OF DANIEL THE PROPHET

Belteshazzar, a son of the heathen god Bel, but
Daniel himself always retained his own
Hebrew name. Years before this, however, the
God of Daniel had said, “Bel boweth and Nebo
stoopeth; ...they could not deliver the burden,
but themselves are gone into captivity.” Daniel
