About 10 or 12 years later I was coerced into joining the Board of Trustees of ALT. Once again the Board was comprised of Who’s Who, but they were all aging.
The Board Meetings were somewhat unusual. Because of all the scientific papers submitted by the scientists working for ALT the Board papers were enormous. I don’t think anybody ever had time to read them, but they didn’t need to because Pat had already decided what the meeting was to discuss and what the outcomes were to be.

The Chairman at the time I joined was Nobby Clark AO. After a year or so he expressed a wish to retire and I was appointed Chairman , but he remained on the Board of Trustees to assist me with the changeover.
