The annual remembrance day of P N Panicker on 19 June is observed
as the “Day of Reading”. In this connection Reading Pledge was adminis-
tered by our Principal Mr. A.P Vinod Kumar during assembly. Kendriya

Vidyalaya Thrissur celebrated Reading month from 19 June to 18 July
2018.To inculcate reading habits among students and teachers various
competitions and assembly programs were conducted.On this occasion

DEAR(Drop Everything And Read) mass reading activity was conducted
during Club period from Classes I to XII. All students and staff actively
participated in mass reading. A skit on ’Importance of Reading and
Digital reading’ skit was performed by Swati and group of class 8 D
during assembly. Other assembly programs conducted during reading
month was speech on Digital reading, quiz on various topics, Biography
of author etc. Donate a Book to the library Program was organized to
enrich lives of children .Children took part in the program and donated
books to the library. To Promote reading habit various competitions
were also conducted for Primary, Secondary and Sr. Secondary . Book
exhibition was also organised for three days at the Vidyalaya Premises
.Primary section conducted reading competition for each class. Various
competitions for classes 6-8 was conducted Book review, bookmark de-
signing, Book jacket designing, and Online quiz. During library period ac-
tivities based on reading month was conducted like read aloud, Genre of
fiction, read and write characters of a book etc.Various competitions for
classes 9-12 was also conducted Poetry writing competition, Creative
writing competition, slogan writing competition and Essay writing com-
petition on Digital reading: A New challenge. Students actively partici-
pated and enjoyed this stress free month as it ignited the minds of young
readers. The participants were encouraged to read more books through
a prize giving ceremony. Our Principal Mr A.P Vinod Kumar gave away
the prizes to the winners.I thank our Principal Mr A.P Vinod Kumar and
all teachers for making this ”National Reading Month” a grand success

and a memorable one.
