April Meet Shirley Wilson

Shirley was born in 1934 and is the youngest of two girls. Shirley
5 Apr Mary N. attended Ascham School at four years old and was the tiniest in the
Margaret M. / Kindergarten class (not surprising seeing she is not even five feet tall!).

Shirley W. Shirley married her husband Peter, in 1954. He was a General
10 Apr Dawn S-D. Practitioner when they started seeing each other. Shirley’s first
daughter, Jenny, was born in 1960 and her second daughter Pam, was
13 Apr Lorna H. born in 1961. They lived in England for about three and a half years
from 1967-1970 where Peter completed his degrees in Obstetrics and
17 Apr Gwen L. Gynaecology and surgery. When they came back from England, Peter
started up his own practice. Shirley’s mum was very involved in doing
the bookwork and overseeing the running of Peter’s practice.
May Peter worked very long hours and built up a very successful practice.
2 May Blanche W. He was the first O&G to do two new ground-breaking procedures in
Australia which are now performed routinely.

Shirley has always been very keen on the stock market and traded in
12 May Marie B. shares for many years. She is also a very enthusiastic and (a very good)
bridge player. She was on the bridge committee at the Royal Sydney
13 May Pixie G. / Shirley F.
Golf Club. Shirley and her family lived in Beecroft for many years. After
24 May Alison G. Shirley’s daughters left home, she and her husband moved to
Wahroonga and then to Northbridge.
28 May Glory B.
Shirley currently has seven grandchildren. Shirley and Peter bought 20
30 May Anne L. acres of land at Exeter in 2000 and spent a lot of time down there.
Shirley describes her relationship with Peter as “a marriage made in
heaven”. Peter was a wonderful, kind and caring father and husband.
Shirley and Peter had a large group of friends with whom they
socialised with regularly.
