Autumn 2020
BELLA VISTA NEWS
Welcome
By Dr Charles Lo
Welcome to the Autumn edition of the newsletter. The Summer
months have been challenging. The weather was unpredictable with Regina and Cyril at Lynwood
the heat and bushfires, followed by torrential rain. We acknowledge
and thank the firies and volunteers for their tireless work in trying to
contain the fires. Having said that, we managed to do well during the
hot spell by encouraging our residents to drink lots of fluid to
maintain hydration. The heavy rain, on the other hand, caused some
damage, that is, power failure, air conditioning units going off and
roof leakage. The power did not stay down for long but I must thank
our staff who worked tirelessly to get the breakfast from the
basement to the floor by taking the stairs. Imagine, the fitness being
achieved and how exhausted they must have been. I take my hat off
to them. Shirley with her son at our Christmas Luncheon
We encourage residents and relatives to raise concerns with us, the
area that has most concern is staffing turnover. Unfortunately, staff
leave for many reasons, some due to visa requirements or achieving
their Registered Nursing qualifications. We try to recognise our staff
and their achievements, and our monthly Standing Ovation Award
winners are a great way for us to do this. Congratulations to our
winners the last couple of months. More details of this are on page 3
of this newsletter.
Finally, feedback is always welcome. If you have a suggestion, Val with a student from Pacific Hills Christian
constructive comment, or a positive comment to make please write School
this down on a My Thoughts Form. As always if you need anything
please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Valmai, Gloria and Betty at the Marsden
