Winter 2019
BELLA VISTA NEWS
Welcome
By Dr Charles Lo
Greetings,
Visible Storage Museum Tour
Welcome to the Winter edition of our newsletter. My name is
Charles Lo. I am the new Director of Care Services and commenced
work at Bella Vista Gardens on 1 April. I have been here for over a
month and had the privilege of meeting all of you with the exception
of some of the newer residents. One of my challenges is to
remember the names of all the residents and team members.
I completed my nurse education in 1988 and worked in Brisbane
after my graduation for a few years and then spent a year in Saudi Grand Kids Day on the Village Green
Arabia. After returning home I undertook further studies in Critical
Care Nursing, Men’s Health, Health Management, Master of Public
Health and a PhD. I moved back to Sydney and worked for a Nursing
Agency that specialised in critical care including Paediatric ICU. I also
have experience in a neonate nursery. My PhD study in aged care
influenced my decision to work in aged care. I have been in aged care
for 11 years. I have worked as a manager for various aged care
organisations. I am honoured to be at Bella Vista Gardens and fully
committed to the care of our residents and striving for continuous
improvement.
Reading this precis, you can glimpse that I have an extensive clinical
KU Village Green Day Care Visit
and managerial experience. The aged care industry is constantly
revolving and has lots of changes and challenges. One of these
changes will be the new aged care quality standards which will be
implemented 1 July. My goal is to focus on improving
communication, care and service provision across the residence.
Having said that, I will continue to do my daily rounds and will use
this as a platform for you to have discussions with me. Until then
cheerio till our next edition.
Warmest regards
Cheese & Wine Festival
