Meet Margaret & Neville Adcock
August
Margaret and Neville Adcock grew up in Birchgrove and knew each
other from a very early age since they both attended the same Sunday
8 Aug Audrey M
School. As a young man, Neville studied accountancy but then went off
11 Aug Betty P to war when he was only 18. He became a RADAR operator and was
13 Aug Marie‐Louise P stationed in northern Australia and Borneo. When the Japanese
13 Aug Mina R surrendered, Neville miraculously hitchhiked back to Australia in a two
seater Beaufighter along with four other men!

His parents threw him a welcome home party where he re‐acquainted
with Margaret. They married in 1950 and shared their lives with four
wonderful children, Sue, Geoff, David and John, and six grandchildren.

Both successful in their chosen careers, Neville and Margaret kept
physically fit playing tennis and golf, and mentally stimulated playing
Bridge, doing crosswords and reading.

Margaret is also a talented artist and their suites are decorated with
her beautiful paintings, demonstrating that gifts can be nurtured at

any stage of life!

The Adcocks travelled extensively to glorious places around the world
including Europe, USA, Canada, Hawaii and New Zealand but their

fondest holiday memories are at the Burrill Lake cottage where their
children would run wild and play with their cousins. When the family
was young they also enjoyed packing a picnic and venturing out in
their Morris Minor to beaches on the weekends, especially Parsley
Bay.

Margaret and Neville have been married for 67 years! When asked the
secret to sharing such a long and happy marriage, the answer was
swift and simple. Patience and Love!

Margaret and Neville congratulations on the birth of your first GREAT
Grandchild, a beautiful baby girl name Eliza Grace, born on the 8th
June!
