Cotton Groves is an affordable housing community built entirely with re-purposed
shipping containers located in McKinney, Texas. The development is a collaborative
effort, lead by Habitat for Humanity of Collin County, the City of McKinney, it’s
Community Development Corporation (MCDC) and a host of other public / private
organizations. Habitat is transforming a 2.75-acre strip of land into a 35-unit,
affordable housing, town-home community. Cotton Groves will be an eco-friendly,
sustainable development and will be the first to utilize re-purposed shipping containers
for an entire neighborhood.
Our two ReStore locations, which are open
to the public, sell both new and gently
used furniture and construction materials
at 20%-50% off retail prices. ReStore
merchandise is donated by individuals,
retail stores, builders, remodelers, and
local companies. Other new items are
purchased directly from manufacturers at
a reduced cost and the savings are then
passed on to our ReStore customers. Our
new Habitat homeowners choose much of
their furnishings and appliances from our
ReStore inventory.
