rendez‐vous
blood moon, swollen,
a pregnant woman, hangs
in the darkened sky.
Sukkot, the pagan harvest feast
brings forth fruits:
apples, berries, pumpkins, corn.
ethereal spirits,
dead rise from the cemetery,
roam through fields of corn,
a deer crosses the road,
disappears into silhouettes of tombs,
an owl hollering: who! who!
in scripture, blood moon
forecasts end of time,
cumulus clouds float in sky
partially hiding her,
sun rises covering her shadow
darkness spreads.
