Christian Vind: Untitled, 2004. Oil on canvas, 100 x 80 cm.
Christian Vind works conceptually with a multitude of different media. Thus, his exhibitions are often centered on a single theme, which is examined in depth from several different angles through many different expressions and materials. In addition to painting, Christian Vind also exhibits collages, found objects and films. His overall artistic interest is how time and memory can assume different forms and volumes, and in his practice, he often works to connect different works and objects in relationships that can create larger and deeper narratives. Thus, Christian Vind’s interest
in time and memory is both abstract and concrete in nature. His painting Untitled can be seen as
an abstract extension of the concept of memory, where a maelstrom without ups and downs can become a visualization of the essence of memory itself. With time and memory as a pervasive field of interest, Christian Vind has created an archive of found material, which he constantly revisits, uses, and relates to. This archive contains everything from magazine clippings to geological finds, and the collection is a central point in his practice.
Christian Vind (1969 DK) studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. His works are part of the collections at The National Gallery of Art, ARoS, Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Vejle Art Museum, the New Carlsberg Foundation and Museum Jorn. Christian Vind has exhibited at Gl. Strand, DK; Rønnebæksholm, DK; Museum of Art Florida,
US; Overgaden Institute for Contemporary Art, DK; Holstebro Art Museum, DK and Fanø Art Museum, DK, among others. Christian Vind has curated several exhibitions, and he has received several awards, including the National Arts Foundation three-year work grant and the Aage and Yelva Nimb’s Foundation’s Honorary Grant.
