Krista Rosenkilde: Untitled, 2006. Oil on canvas, 160 x 120 cm.
Krista Rosenkilde evokes fabulous and adventurous motifs and stories in her oil paintings. In
the work Untitled, a piece of land appears to be sinking into the sea or into a cosmic maelstrom. Large buttercups and a Dannebrog-decorated auto camper with a rainbow-striped tent are being swept away in the movement. A large, whitish shining sun stands against the dark, warm, and purple background. It is a very mysterious space Krista Rosenkilde creates. The work is at once naturalistically painted with a very steady hand and at the same time so surreal and impossible in its motif. Krista Rosenkilde has meticulously depicted the scene with a great wealth of detail, and she shows her painterly versatility in the purple background and in the dark brown earth, where broader brushstrokes and at times transparent color form a more vitalist painterly expression..
Krista Rosenkilde (1982 DK) studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Krista Rosenkilde
has exhibited her works at Kunsthal Korsør, DK; Heerup Museum, DK; Vendsyssel Art Museum, DK; Politiken Forhal, DK, and Culture Center Gammelgaard, DK, among others. She has created a public work for the Vestre Landsret, and her works are part of the National Arts Foundation’s Collection.
