         Erik Hällman: Untitled, 2022.
Textile, plaster, casein, house paint, steel, and pins on cardboard. 61 x 40 cm
Erik Hällman’s work is an assemblage of a series of different materials. In their combination, they create a dynamic and colorful image surface. The dark lines and the almost pattern creating collage define the work’s abstract expression. It appears as a relief. The underlayer cardboard bends organically, and the work’s assembled parts shape out sculptural elements. Erik Hällman’s artistic practice often takes its starting point in abstractions over nature and industry and with a conceptual approach to media. The many combinations of both found and bought materials express his investigation of what defines the organic and the synthetic and how their mixture can be perceived in contemporary art.
Erik Hällman (1987, SE) graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2020. Since then, he has exhibited his works at exhibition spaces such as Charlottenborg Art Hall, DK; Augustiana Art Hall, DK; SØ Exhibition Space, DK; Lagune Ouest, DK, and Galleri NOS, SE.
