The Austrian artist Georg Haberler creates his works with a sewing machine and a selection of colorful ink. Here, paintings in untraditional materials arise and they can be perceived as mixed media. Georg Haberler’s works are figurative in an almost childish style. A multitude of animals such as giraffes, lions, and crocodiles come to life on the canvases in what looks like a controlled chaos. At the same time, the space in the work is abstract – it is colored by architectonic elements, but
it is also undefinable. The mystical scenes in the impossible landscapes also present something magicaland mythological. They offer storytelling and contemplation and instead of revealing their logic, they invite viewers to create their own narratives.
Georg Haberler (1985 AT) Lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the Art Academy in Vienna and during his education, he also studied at Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg (where he studied under Gregor Hildebrandt) Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto in Porto. Georg Haberler has exhibited his works in several European venues, and he is represented by the gallery Åplus in Berlin.
