CHILE Downtown Providing Fascinating Travel Experiences
Wine tourism has developed strongly in this region renowned for its white wines. In particular for the sauvignon blanc which reveals its best aromas on this cool climate terroir, located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Only a 1-hour from Santiago de Chile, the Casablanca Valley and its wine route are a must to discover wine-growing Chile. The Lake District in Argentina is located in the northernmost part of Patagonia and features a landscape made up of forests, mountain ranges, snow-capped peaks and of course, many lakes. As you explore this region of Argentina, you will realize how very beautiful and fascinating a simple landscape can be and what nature can do.
Day 1: Santiago
After your arrival in Santiago, meet you guide and relax during the 40-minute
transfer to your hotel. Transfer f rom the hotel to the meeting point. Depending on your arrival time you may take a 5-mile bike tour entering the green spaces and the most out- standing historical places of down- town Santiago. Shady parks, trendy neighborhoods and introduction to the "Santiaguino" culturewill make for a memorable afternoon.
Notes: Wear comfortable clothes and sunscreen. The bilingual guide will provide water, helmet and a green bike. This tour requires 15-minute transfer to and from the meeting point to the hotel.
Day 2: Santiago (Vega Central Market)
Meet your guide at the Vega Central, a traditional and famous market, where lively vendors, local restaurants and buyers from all economic means converge. The market stands out as a permanent point of popular life and metropolitan authenticity. We will go through each of its picturesque corridors and we will come into con-
tact with aromas, colors and a variety of typical Chilean and Latin American products. Continue towards Vega Chica, where “garzones” and tenants will do their best to serve us. We’ll end up in the Central Market, famous for its architecture and variety of fish and seafood stalls. Taste some typical snacks before returning to the hotel. [S]
Day 3: Santiago (Casablanca Valley, Matetic Vineyard)
Casablanca Valley: Chile’s move toward cool-climate viticulture began 25 years ago when innovative winemakers dared to suggest plant- ing in the pre-coastal region of Casablanca Valley. When you arrive at the vineyard, you can choose one of the available optional activities such as biking, horseback riding or hiking. Either of these activities will allow you to enjoy a unique experience, allowing you to discover the essence of the Chilean countryside, weaved between native forests, sheep and alpacas. It is a fantastic outdoor excursion where the native flora and fauna of the wine valley provide an unforgettable atmosphere of tranquil.
