WHAT ADDITIONAL MATERIALS DO YOU USE?
We usually use the music sheet from “Film favourites” or “Disney favourites” edited by Hal Le-
onard. I also prepare myself arrangements of pieces related to the different countries participa-
ting in the BGMUN (a sort of United Nations at School).
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR THE STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE YAMAHA CLASS BAND?
Let them become fond of music through their instrument. So much that when finishing these clas-
ses, they feel like buying their own instrument and continue studying and playing ...
In fact, some already do it beforehand and this is one of the main satisfactions I have as a Class-
Band teacher: unleash the desire of making music.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE ADDED VALUE OF A YAMAHA CLASS BAND?
It is obvious that Yamaha class band set the foundation of essential values such as teamwork,
companionship, respect, and self-esteem.
It also promotes the value of commitment as students can verify by themselves how individual
effort can improve the result of the whole.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN YOURSELF?
From a technical point of view, when it comes to conducting, I would like to be more confident. I
conduct in an intuitive way, but I would like to do it more precisely and efficiently.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY SOMETHING TO YOUR EUROPEAN COLLEAGUES?
I think we can consider ourselves truly privileged to be able to make music with students and te-
ach them to play a “real” instrument in conventional elementary or secondary school classrooms.
On the other hand, we can be proud of carrying out a project that stands out the quality of the
educational establishments in which we work.
