The Class Band is a modern, motivating and effective way of teaching music.
Students systematically learn to play a wind instrument. The Class con-
sists of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and euphonium
(baritone). If necessary, a horn and percussion can be added.
Theory is taught in a playful way and pupils remember it much better.
The pupils form an orchestra together from the beginning. The children
can start in the Class Band with no prior knowledge. The Class Band
is basically a two-year music course that can then be continued as a
school orchestra, Big Band or Symphonic Wind Orchestra. As Strings
Classes have recently been added, in combination, one can also think
of a real symphony orchestra as a continuation of both projects.
For the (music) teacher, the Class Band concept is clear and well de-
veloped in our guidelines. Through Seminars, teachers are prepared to
work as Yamaha Class Band teachers. Then the teacher is guided and
coached as required. Lesson preparations are already virtually ready to
go and save the teacher a lot of time.
As a Class Band teacher, you are part of a European group of Class
Band teachers who do and experience the same thing. Exchange of
knowledge and experiences is therefore one of our focal points.
Through regularly organised conferences for teachers, colleagues from
all over Europe can meet and attend workshops together to deepen and
expand knowledge.
All learning objectives of existing curricula are incorporated in Class
Band. Theoretical knowledge is literally taught in a playful way so that
theory is no longer a dry exercise but is applied directly and therefore
remembered much better.
Thus, a Class Band can completely replace regular music lessons.
Class Band is basically taught during school hours.
The Yamaha Class Band team naturally offers support when
organising a Class Band.
