The Yamaha Class Band is a unique and modern way of teaching music
where students learn to play a wind instrument together from the very beginning.
The Class Band consists of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and bari-

tone supplemented by percussion and horn if possible.
Classes preferably take place during school hours.
Anyone can participate, no prior knowledge is needed.

The teacher will be trained and coached by Yamaha.
As the Class Band exists across Europe, the teacher will be part of a European com-
munity of teachers where knowledge and experiences can be shared.
At regularly organised European conferences, teachers from all over Europe meet
and can get to know each other and attend workshops together to deepen and ex-
        pand their knowledge.

For the school, a Class Band means much more than just a class with instruments:
the Class Band gives the school and clear profile and thus the school can stand out
from other schools and thus attract more pupils to it.
Also, with a Class Band, the school immediately has good music education where
        theory and practice merge.
Exchanges with other schools at home and abroad are also among the possibilities.

When starting a Class Band, Yamaha offers everything support. Organisational and

        financial matters come into play.
A Class Band is not cheap, but it is good and sustainable. It requires an investment
in the future, an investment that pays off in aspects that include the important so-
cial and cognitive development of the pupil. A Class Band pupil literally learns to
listen to each other. This will clearly improve the atmosphere within a school. So-
cial development is a natural consequence of playing together in orchestra. People
consider each other, wait their turn, listen to each other. Everything that is so much
needed now. Pupils also learn to concentrate better and feel responsibility for each
other. Group processes where the benefits are clear. And not unimportantly: ma-
king music together is never about “winning”, being the “first”, being the “fastest”.

The Class Band thus offers many benefits to the school and is essential for
the child’s development in doing so. Not to forget:
Music makes you smart! Because making music is a complex activity in which both
hemispheres of the brain work together optimally, the brain develops more than in

any other activity. Several studies around the world have shown this.
