A thermos is used to store hot water so that
its temperature can be maintained for a long
time. Instead of using a single material, the
thermos contains a vacuum layer, which

effectively minimizes heat transfer by
conduction and convection. The hot water is
stored in a glass container, while the outer
layer is made of metal to provide strength

and durability. The vacuum between the
glass container and the outer wall prevents
heat from escaping to the surroundings,
allowing the hot water to remain warm for a

longer period.
