Charles Ives Authority for the Performing Arts

honors the memory of one of America’s greatest music composers and Danbury native,
Charles Edward Ives (1874–1954), by providing a nationally recognized forum for the
performing and creative arts. Ives was an American modernist composer and is widely
regarded as one of the first America composers of international significance. In 2006,
Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton took steps to create a City Authority to preserve and
protect the Ives’ founding father’s vision, and the Charles Ives Authority for the Performing
Arts was born. Recognized for 43 years as an extraordinary entertainment
destination in Western Connecticut, the Ives Concert Park maintains a passionate, vigorous
commitment in taking historic steps in advancing cultural enrichment in our region.
